History of Our Book Clubs
The first chapter of Sistah Girl Reading Club began in 1997 in Miami, FL. Every
month we come together and discuss books by African American writers. We have entertained a few authors along the
way at our meetings, we have also host book signings for authors. It's a club about building a strong sistah-hood
through reading, love, fellowship, and community outreach.
It's also more than a book club. We have an annual get together with all chapters. We have social
events such as picnics, parties, cruises, spa days, or any idea a sistah has.
In 2003, a 2nd chapter was formed in Jacksonville, FL.
In 2005, a 3rd chapter was formed in McKinney/Allen/Plano/Frisco, TX and surrounding areas.
In 2006, our 4th chapter was formed. The club was original formed in 2003, but they decided to join
us. This chapter serves the Conyers, Lithonia, Stone Mountain, Snellville, Atlanta Ga. and surrounding areas.
We are so excited to see our club growing.
Currently we have 73 members in all four chapters.
